Oil Pastel Snowmen

4th grade students demonstrated shading by identifying the highlight and shadow areas of their snowman based off the direction of the light source.  This also helped students create the illusion of space by giving dimension to their artwork.

Model Magic Bears

5th grade students created Holiday Bears by first coloring and then molding model magic to create a bear form.  Then students drew and colored a rough draft of what their Holiday Bear would look like when complete.  Finally students colored and molded addition pieces of white model magic, based off their rough draft, to create such things as hats, gifts, or candy canes to add to their sculptured bear.

Winter Trees

Kindergartners first stamp painted green construction paper, then cut out triangle shapes and glued them onto a blue and white background paper.  To complete their project, students then used white paint to add falling snow.

Full Moon

5th grade students were discussing the phases of the moon in science class, so in art they painted a full moon with a value scale background.  Then students twisted and glued down pieces of brown paper towel to create a tree.  To complete their project, students added the silhouette of an animal on a branch.
