Faith Ringgold inspired Story Quilts

3rd graders created paper Story Quilts after being inspired by the artist Faith Ringgold and her book Tar Beach.  Students were asked the question "If you could fly anywhere in the world, real or imaginary, where would you go?" Then students drew a picture of themselves flying over a special place.  They decorated small squares and arranged them in a pattern before gluing them to create a boarder for their main drawing.
