Snakes

Kindergartners had fun making colored shape snakes!  Using primary (red, yellow, blue) and secondary (green, orange, purple) colored construction paper; students drew different shapes on each section with markers.

Robots

2nd graders used geometric shapes to draw robots.  Then students identified, and separated, the foreground from the background by adding color to only the background using crayons.

 

Chalk Minions

1st graders created Minions by drawing circles and straight lines using a ruler. 
Then using chalk, they filled in areas of solid yellow color.  A bit messy, but fun!

Circle Art

Kindergarteners created Circle Art this past week.  They filled up their papers by tracing small, medium, and large sized circles using markers.  Then using crayons, they colored in areas of their artwork by staying within the lines.

Happy Counselor’s Day

A special Thank You to the third graders in room #11!

Because of recent snow days, their class is ahead of schedule compared to the other 3rd grade classrooms. Therefore, students helped show our school appreciation by making signs to celebrate counselor’s day.

 

Warm / Cool Hearts

3rd grade students created stained glass inspired hearts using warm and cool colors.  First students traced a heart in the middle of their paper, then divided the page using diagonal, horizontal and vertical lines.  Then they had to decide whether to create a warm colored heart with a cool colored background or a cool colored heart on a warm colored background.  The artwork was finished by outlining all their lines with a black crayon. 

Heart Themes

5th graders designed heart themed artwork inspired by the American pop artist Jim Dine.

Hand holding Heart

2nd grade students created black & white backgrounds using nice/positive words.  Next, they traced a heart shape and their own hand (some needing help from a friend), cut them both out and glued the pieces to their backgrounds to create color contrast artwork.

Perspective Snowmen

3rd graders created different perspective snowmen.  First they used crayons to decorate their blue background paper with light and dark snowflakes.  Then students traced a small, a medium and a large sized circle, cut them all out and pasted them according to their perspective view.  Snowmen were created with the perspective of looking up at them, looking at them straight on, looking down on them, and looking at them from a side profile.
