4th graders drew stacked pumpkins to prepare for a lesson on color value. They were given the option of turning their pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns by adding facial features or leaving them as solid harvest pumpkins. Students began the project by filling in the background of their artwork using different values of green crayons. They then painted their pumpkins using the color orange, as well as a tint and a shade to show orange color values. After the paint dried, students outline their drawings with black markers.
